Probably accurate assessment, Gedas. Here in Kansas, JJY 40 kHz is one of my winter favorites. I always have gotten it most reliably after 3 AM Central, but don't think I've ever tried for it after daybreak, however. Will have to give that a try sometime.

I had an RF recording of JJY that I was particularly fond of (the actual 40 kHz signal from the antenna, digitized into PCM .bwv format by my TASCAM DR-05 at 96 ksamples/s) that I could play back into my Kenwood R-5000 and decode on MultiPSK whenever I wanted to relive that cold 3:45 AM January morning eight years ago. Beautiful, clear audible copy and solid visual decode. But alas, I discovered last year that the SD card has lost its mind.
