Hi Mike,
I've used the AMRAD active whip for many years. I'm currently rebuilding the PVC tube assembly. I had a 6' whip in top which cracked the PVC cap. A 6' whip was too long for my location, with some 2nd order intermod (F2-f1) spurs in the VLF band from broadcast band stations. I'm rebuilding with a 40" whip antenna to lower the input signal strength. Good luck with the project. 73.
