Edit: Sorry if the first version of this post seemed like just a cranky old geezer hollering, "You younsters stay off my lawn!" In one sense, I suppose I have become cranky lately...mainly because of having to deal with determined spammers who have been thwarted in their recent attempts to plaster the board with junk posts, and are now trying to bully us with ransomware scams and/or threats thereof. (C'mon, spam bozos, you claim to have hacked databases here that you can sell personal information from? Nyet, Vlad. Nyet! We neither collect nor retain such data, as you'd know if you had really found a 'vulnerability.' The one database that does exist here is (a) of no commercial value and (b) hiding in such plain sight that you wouldn't recognize if it bit you...as it has indeed been doing. But even clearly bogus threats do not sit well with me. Слава Україні ) In any event, the real intent behind the post below is to hopefully find a way to head off further needless crowding of an important band segment. Please forgive my curmudgeonly attitude, and thanks for reading. -JD - - - - - - - - - -VA2DMV has been appearing right on top of K3SIW and (sometimes) K9SZX in WSPR-2, claiming in the decodes to run 0.5 W. From the reported SN values, it appears likely that he actually is! One has to wonder whether this is a case of mistaken "ham band" identity on the part of M. Martel, or whether he somehow ran across and is now laboring under K6STI's delusions about permitted antenna input power for non-licensed devices at 22 m. Canada's RSS-210 rules specify the exact same 15,484 μV/m limit (measured 30 m from the device) within the 13553 - 13557 kHz segment that Part 15 does, and the same greatly reduced field limits in the corresponding kilohertz(es) on either side. In the license free bands, we have to share with anyone and any emission type, but it is only neighborly for everyone doing so to play by the same rules, and maybe be considerate enough to not crowd together at the center of the watering hole, let alone park oneself squarely on top of stations that helped pioneer the use of the band. Does anyone have suggestions for how to get word to newcomers on the band that there's already a community in place who can help them more effectively fit in with those who are already here?
