Every day I get this weird phenomenon that appears on my SDR. I have mentioned before that the power company polls data from their big power line (I imagine from their substation nearby). They will turn on the channels they want to look at and they really aren't a hindrance to me. Each channel does not fall on something of interest. They will interrogate their data and then turn those channels off. A few minutes later I get what looks like a comb generator that plasters itself completely across my screen. It sounds like someone releasing air from an obnoxious balloon. It takes maybe 20 minutes for the major interference to subside. However, their is a trace of emissions for many many hours. The comb generator signals are still their in a slight way. The area on my screen for 152 Khz to 230 Khz is usually devoid of ANY signals or noise when this burst does not manifest itself. That part of my spectrum is the least noisy of my radio. Of course my antenna could have a bad reception area in it. But that area goes silent for part of the day until this happens. I call this phenomenon the "Binaca Blast". After the breath spray that sweetens your breath. But it is real and happens twice a day I believe. I think what is happening is their PLC transmitter is relieving itself after being turned off. I am not sure what to think but am wondering what you guys think. I will try to make a recording of it. It takes a long time (hours) for each blast to finally go away.
