Glenn, you may have missed a couple posts that described the signal on 162 kHz. It is a French time and day standard that transmits a carrier with some digital modulation. You will NEVER hear any audio from TDF but you will hear their strong carrier. Many years ago they did transmit voice but not anymore.

Also 153 kHz oscillates from being properly modulated to under-modulated and it's just plain luck if you tune to that frequency and hear some music or voices.

Currently I can only hear very faint audio on 153 kHz plus I have severe QRN from some t-storms to my south. All I can hear is a good signal from BBC on 198 kHz but they are being bombarded by heavy crashes.

I made a very short video for you so you can hear the time station TDF and also the very very weak audio on Algeria on 153 kHz. I will delete the video after a week or so. Pay attention to TDF right when the clock hits 0-seconds after the minute and look at the carrier.....you can see an absence of digital data for 1-second. 73 Gedas W8BYA
