Hi Marcy, you are hearing correctly, just a carrier. TDF on 162 kHz discontinued voice in 2016 and is now only a time station, with a phase modulated carrier encoding the time signal. You can find more information at: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allouis_longwave_transmitter I find that if I zero beat the carrier using my rig’s CW mode, and very gently tune off-perfect-zero-beat, I THINK I can hear the phase modulation. Either that or it’s my aging neurons playing tricks (quite possible!) And on your other topic (171 kHz Medi 1 Radio, Morocco), yes it really booms in some evenings, doesn’t it?
