I have started up the WM Hifer Beacon using a new power supply configuration. When I first started this beacon, I intended to run it on Solar/Battery Power. I knew nothing about that technology, and while I learned a lot, I switched back to commercial power. I concluded that I simply did not have enough "Sun Power" to run the beacon in the winter.
The flooded lead acid battery could not be brought back up to full charge in the short window of direct sunlight at this location.

This attempt is using LiFePO4 battery tech. My initial tests convince me this is a whole new ballgame. I believe my 10AM till 2PM window will put a good charge into that battery with just a small solar panel.

The beacon operation is the same as before. 13.555300 Mhz, QRSS 4 FSKCW/CW.

Bring on the snowmen!
