It should be a very quiet location. You would think so looking at the pic Ed, but actually it's not. There's a noise riding the powerlines here that unfortunately lands on approximately 136-140khz. It adds about 10db to the ambient noise level. If the band was just 3 khz or so lower in freq, I'd have much better reception, but that's just the way it goes. My vertical is more subject to the noise so I made the loopstick, and it seems to give an improvement on the snr. Most locations are noisy at 2200m. You're not alone. Lots of DC switcher power supplies and other various consumer noisemakers abound in the average neighborhood to ruin LF reception.
